FacebookTweetPinEmail
February 20, 2024 Karen Spring Filed Under: Daily Trial Summaries

What happened today

  • The public was not permitted into the courtroom during jury selection. Instead, a separate courtroom was designated for the public to watch the process on screens.
  • The jury was selected and is made up of 12 jurors and 6 substitutes (9 women and 9 men).

Key Information that Surfaced Today

  • It was discussed that the girlfriend of Alexander Mendoza (also known as “El Porky”), one of the leaders of the powerful transnational street gang, MS-13, will testify in the trial. Mendoza was also called a co-conspirator (we will write more about this at a later date). The judge will decide later whether the testimony is admitted as evidence at a later moment.

What Will Happen Tomorrow

  • Trial starts at 10 am with opening statements first by the prosecution and then the defense. After, the prosecution’s first few witnesses will be called to testify.
